Which one is better? I really do not know the answer to that question. My mother smoked a turkey this year. It turned out to be one of the best ones she has made so far! She did have a hard time 'lighting the turkey', luckily she is used to all the teasing! A tradition of our family is to take the left over turkey and make a turkey Dorito casserole. This years rendition was the best! Using smoked turkey in the recipe is the only way to go! I can still taste the cheesey, smokey turkey and chip concoction 2 days later!
For those of you who can remember being in grade school and taking a piece of old school construction paper, tracing your hand on it and decorating it with feathers. Well, that is what my entire family did after lunch on Thanksgiving. Daniel (my bro who came during mockboards) thought it was a lame idea, but after the peer pressure got to him he joined in! We took all of our turkeys and mailed them to my brother who is attending boot camp in Kentucky. We all laughed so hard at our turkeys. Everyone's personalities came out in them. My sister who is known for flipping the bird when she was younger made her turkey and cut out the fingers! My mom was shocked while the rest of us just laughed. This summer my siblings and I went to Yellowstone. My brother, Brent made a video tape of our adventure, but it ended up being a documentary regarding all the 'poop' in the area. So Daniel make his turkey with a pile of poop on it. It was the most fun I have had with construction paper, glue and markers! I just hope Dave (bro in Kentucky) gets harassed for having a crazy turkey family!
I know Korbin wanted me to bring a pic of my family. Well, this is my fam! This is my sisters blog and the pic was taken at Christmas last year (2004). Starting on the back row going L to R we have my father Anthon Jones, my mother Susan Jones, 3rd bro Brent Jones (he lives with me), 1st bro Dave Jones, 2nd bro Daniel Jones, my brother-in-law Matt Bishop. Front row is my youngest sis Jo Ann Jones, ME, Lori Bishop. Lori is holding her daughter Shay Bishop and Ty Bishop is sitting on a chair in the front. This is my fam! I have to say they are the best! I hope your family gatherings will be as great as mine this holiday season! Please share your stories!

To be a super ninja hygienist & pharmacist
Today I went to the UPhA (Utah Pharmacist Association) mid-year conference. It was interesting to compare it to the dental hygiene conferences. I have to admit that dental hygienists are a tad more 'professional' than nerdy pharmacists. This organization is a little slow in the making. They were selling turttlenecks with UPhA on it. There were only 4. Now I thought SADHA was small.
I have been hearing rumors about a private pharmacy school opening up in West Jordan. Well the rumors were confirmed. The school will be accepting their first class in the fall of 2006. For about 1/1,000,000 of a second I considered applying. I love pharmacy, but I have another year of pre-reqs then 4 years of pharmacy school. Private schools tend to accept people with less pre-reqs and are finished in shorter time (3 years--all year, no summer break). After that agonizing 1/1,000,000 of a second I woke up. How can I support a private school, no matter the profession? I am against private dental hygiene schools. They threaten my future as a hygienist. While pharmacists are a little more benign on the subject, I know that if I was a pharmacist I would be against a school coming into my area and saturating the workforce with 100 grads a year! So, I guess I will not be applying even though I really want to. I mean 3 years to be a pharmacist versus 5 years definitely has great appeal, but how can I (here comes that dreaded E word) ethically attend this school? Then I ask myself, who cares where you went to school as long as you are a good hygienist and pharmacist does it really matter? I don't know what to tell myself.
One great thing that was taught at the Top 10 Things a Pharmacist can do to Help their Diabetic Patients CE (continuing ed) was #10. ask the pt how often they brush and floss their teeth. The speaker really emphasized how easy (only 5 seconds) it was to ask their diabetic pts if they had been to their dentist lately and if they brush twice daily and floss at least once daily. I was really impressed with his lecture. He even went so far as to say they if a pharmacist would refer a pt, and even take an extra step to make the appoint right then, the dentist would be glad to know there was a pharmacist out their to help their diabetic patients, which results in more business for both parties. I really thought that was great!

I can make maple syrup
This post is really for me so I am sorry if my vast reading base is bored with it.
I worked with a pharmacist this past week who was actually nervous about finding a job. Albertsons corporation is currently for sale, so there is a little bit of uncertainty and instability. He is worried that if Smiths or Walgreens etc bought Albies out then he would be out of a job. I laughed inside!! Holy cow, everywhere I work there is a shortage of pharmacists. He really could get a job anywhere! Well, he explained to me why he was nervous. He said that pharmacy had made him a lot of money but he had no skills. Counting by fives and pouring pills from bottle to bottle is not a marketable skill. I said he did so much more than that. I said he knew how the drugs worked in the body, and that he was an expert with health insurances. He pretty much laughed--again not marketable skills in other Ares besides pharmacy.
As the day went on he learned a little bit about me. I told him my brother had just moved in with me and I made French toast one morning and pulled out the store bought maple syrup. Brent (my bro) said it was blasphemous to have such a product in my home! I told him I did not use syrup enough to make it and since the store bought goo has a 90 year shelf life that is what I use. The pharmacist stopped my story right there. He said you actually know how to make your own syrup? As any of you know making syrup in no big deal you boil a little water and sugar and bam you have syrup, so I was shocked again by him. He was so impressed with the small skill of making my own syrup, and I am impressed that he knows how Detrol stops your bladder from contracting and making you pee all the time! As I left he said whatever happens in the company and in life just remember you know how to make maple syrup.
The point I am slowly making is that I have skills and intelligence. I can do great things even though I feel like I am a failure and that I am too old to be starting a career. Most days I feel like I missed the success boat and that I will never have a family, house, garden, boat etc that we Americans love to have. But guess what? I can make maple syrup!

THIS is how a heart breaks!
Oh what a night! Melissa and I attended the Rob Thomas concert last night! We had 8th row tickets with ended up being 3rd row because of equipment. I had a delightful view of Mr Rob for a little over 2 hours!
He sang all of my favs including 'smooth' and ' the difference'! These two songs are probably two of my all time fav Rob Thomas/Matchbox20 songs. When I saw MB20 in Vegas a couple of years ago I was slightly sad (only slightly because I had just been sung to by Rob!) that they did not perform those two songs. Thankfully, last night was my lucky night even though I am fighting a cold!! Rob really does put on a great concert! His current band (not MB20) were VERY fun to watch! I was very impressed with their skills at concert crowd entertainment! It was such a great concert!
The only downer is that Rob has made another album-you would think that was great news. He called it a half an album. It only has about 5 songs, but still I WANT it! I went to the merchandise seller after the concert and was sadly told that some dude from some other freaking state bought all 60 copies! I am pretty sure that the fagger needs to go back to his own state and leave at least one copy of the '...something more' cd for me!!! I mean how can I go through another weekend without all of Rob's music at my disposal! I just do not think I can survive....I tried to find it on his webpage and was again denied! If I have to go to ebay and buy one from that creepy dude who bought them all I am going to scream! If anyone knows where I can buy this cd please let me know so I do not have to buy one from ebay at 70 stinking dollars!!
