Ode to the turkey vulture!

It has recently been brought to my attention that I have not declared my love for the turkey vulture! Everyone in good old Cedar City knows of my passion for these endearing birds, but those chosen souls in Ogden do not! This is a problem....

When I first moved to Cedar I did not have a car and I walked to and from work quite a bit (my dear friend Alicia did give me tons of rides). While walking I noticed the most beautiful bird gliding effortlessly in the sky. I became entranced, and pretty soon I was following the birds to their home! I found out that they lived in a group of trees just one block west of where I lived. Upon further investigation with my handy dandy binoculars, I realized they were the ugliest bird I had ever seen! But my heart still loved them! I looked past their ugly red head and big beak and discovered they were the most beautiful gliders in the world.

Later I moved to the house where they lived. I would lay in the backyard and watch these great birds sun themselves in the morning to get warm and then the whole brood(about 15-25) would fly off to scavenge for food. They would return in the early evening. Sometimes when the wind was just right, it looked like they were playing tag! Watching these graceful birds has brought me much joy!

So if you are ever in Southern Utah and look up to see a number of large birds gracefully soaring and swooping remember me, because when I am reincarnated I want to come back as a turkey vulture

Happy Parade Day!!!

Tomorrow is March 4th. So many good things happened on this day. Dear friends birthdays, parade day, Gerard Butler's new movie-Dear Frankie, The Pacifier comes out, and I am going to splurge and pruchase Jimmy Eats World's new cd!. How great is my life you might ask? Well let me tell you. Last night I got a great dose of Gerard on Jay Leno (I am still swooning over his accent)! Spring Break is almost here and I cannot wait!!! I am looking forward to sleeping, staying in my pjs all day, catching up on all the movies I want to see. Now this may sound like a boring spring break, but trust me I need it sooo bad!!! Well may you all have a great parade day!!!
