Rice Pudding Mecca

This is the North view from my office. I think it is Mt St Helens.
Summer is ending. I first noticed in the sunrise times. Here it is 6:20 am and the sun is just rising. It seems just days ago that at 6:20 am the sun was full up and shining.
I do love the view of the red metal bridge and the sunrise of Portland. It is truly a pretty city.
The other summer ending phenomenon I noticed was the trees--I have officially seen the beginnings of leaves changing color . I am not ready to let summer go.

I have been on a rice pudding recipe hunt for over 10 years. I have found several I like but none that I love.I remember seeing a segment on the news in Utah about a place called Pudding on the Rice Well they closed the one in Utah and moved to Portland. Aww. I saw it the other day while walking downtown. I decided to give it a try.
I asked Todd to meet me there for lunch on Saturday. I could not have been happier. I tried caramel, banana, mint chocolate chip. Todd tried peanut butter and settled on pistachio. I choose coconut. It was the best! I cannot wait to go back.

They also had savory crepes. Todd and I shared a Blackberry Cristo. It was like a Monte Cristo Sandwich but in a crepe with a blackberry spicy reduction. It was completely wonderful. I also want to try the crepes with nutella and bananas and creme! I am so thrilled that I found this rice pudding mecca!

The Rest of my Vacation

Welcome to Vernal!
Scott and I went searching for petroglyphs.

We found some up Dry Fork Canyon

I love the rock. The feel of it. The look of it. The smell of it.
I just love the rock.

I played in Vernal for quite a few days. It was a lot of fun even though Scott had to work quite a bit.
Scott took me to my brother's house on Sunday. Scott and I and Jenni and Brent stayed up to the wee hours of 10:30 pm playing Hot Dice (Farkle) and Canasta. It was so much fun.
1 month old Swayzie was asleep and down for 6 hours. We scuttled to bed like old folks. I promptly fell asleep and then fell out of bed. I am laughing even as I type this. How does someone fall out of bed? sheesh.
Then the lightening started and thunder and rain and wonderful storminess!
No one in the house remembers the storm. I laugh at Jenni for sleeping through this major storm and yet Swayz will wimper and bam she is up like a flash! Oh the power of MOM

This is Swayzie. I call her Swayz-arrito when she is swaddled tight. She is the cutest little nugget.
I am so glad I was able to see my family. I am even more thankful that my family allowed me to spend extra time with Scott. I truly and thoroughly enjoyed my time!

1st Days of Vacation

For my vacation this year I went to Utah. BIG SURPRISE huh?

My mom feeding my nephew grapes. He has grown so much. He is such a little man now and cracks me up. Ok honestly it is my mom who cracks me up. She caters to this guy and his siblings like a good grandma should.

My sister Jo Ann and my niece Shay.

Scott picked me up at the airport. He gave me roses sprayed in glitter. Ha they made me so happy!
Scott has spoiled me to death.
He told me before I landed he had 8 gifts for me. . . .6 ok ones and 2 really good ones. In reality all 8 were amazing and thoughtful and melted my heart.

Scott went home on Sunday. I was missing him and met him in Spanish Fork on Tuesday. As we were driving to Vernal we saw a fire. It made such a pretty sunset.
Scott and my family have been so wonderful letting me spend time with him away from my family. I feel selfish and spoiled. I have enjoyed my time here with Scott. I miss my family and am so thankful they understand that I need to spend time in Vernal right now.
How did I get so lucky?
