No Picture Weekend!
I had a great weekend. I did not have my camera with me at all. I was frustrated that I kept forgetting it. So here is the rundown without pics. I will make it short and sweet....Friday I took care of getting Dan's Durango drivers window replaced and tinted from 2 different shops clear across town from each other. Last weekend the car was broken into... :( Then we had pancakes for dinner. Not just normal pancakes Aebelskivers! Also known as Danish pancakes or ball pancakes. Dan bought me the pan while we were ammo hunting. I am so lucky! There is a long story with the pan and I will tell you tomorrow. Saturday I woke up before the sun and went to the first temple session. It was good. I cut my finger in the dressing room and got spots of blood all over my whites--I did not even know I had cut my finger. But it ended good. Then I got home woke Dan up and made him take me to Ihop. Then we went to NW Portland to the outskirts to the 'country'. It was beautiful. Spring is amazing here. Dan took me over some really big and cool bridges! I loved it.
Then we went to the gun show. It was a lot of fun. People are crazy for guns and ammo right now. There is not a single store in Portland that has ammo. We did find it at an independent dealer (not a chain) and it was so expensive. The man in front of us popped $800 on 2 cases of ammo 1 case of 9mm and 1 of 45. That came out to be like $18 a box. That is so high! I had called my father on Friday and talked to him for the first time since Oct 31, 2008. I wanted to cry but held it together and talked ammo and hung up. Apparently there are shortages everywhere. With the recession hurting everyone and the ammo companies 1.5 million dollars BEHIND in orders it makes me wonder about people and if there isnt a bit of hysteria going on? What's the deal. Are you afraid of the future? Do you need ammo to feel secure? I do to some extent and thanks to my father I have tons of ammo for all my guns. Dan is a bit jealous of that.
So after the gun show Dan and I ate lunch out in our back yard. Then he started in on his homework. I read for a bit then could not resist the wonderful weather and went outside to do some yard work. Dan joined me shortly and together we whipped our tiny yard into shape. It was so nice and kind of surreal to have a man help me with the yard work. I really liked it!
Sunday after church and a nap Dan took me to the Saturday Market...I know on Sun??? But it was fun. I wanted to buy stuff and get a henna tattoo but resisted because it was Sunday. Dan did get a tat. He is too funny. We then walked along the waterfront....curses for not remembering the camera AGAIN! It was so wonderful to be outside with my love and just watching people and nature. Then we came home and started making dinner and I turned around and Dan was doing the dishes! I was so shocked! He is really trying to be better after I talked to him and explained it was not fair I did all the cooking and cleaning, especially since I am picking up an extra shift at Albertsons on Saturdays for 'us'. It was really nice and I loved every minute of my non picture weekend!

Welcome Spring!
Happy Easter! This is my spring picture.
It has been raining here in Portland...a shocker I know! And I have been forgetting my camera. But trust me on this...everyone's yards are full of tulips and daffodils and the cherry blossoms are amazing. So are the trees. There are about 12 different variety of flowering trees. I dont know there names but they are beautiful and giving my allergies a run for the money. I love spring! It is a wonderful time of year.
I bought these tulips from a cute lady selling them on the corner by my office for Easter Seals. I figured what the heck. They were all closed up like the little guy on the UL. They have bloomed into this beautiful arrangement. I love them.
Here is another reason why I love working for Dr Mueller. So you already know that 1st he hired me. 2nd I work my scheduled hours even if I dont have a patient. 3rd I got insurance. 4th I got insurance a month early. and now number 5....He paid for me to attend the dental conference. He paid the admittance fee and then he is paying me wages for my hours of attendance. Let me say that again. He is paying me to sit in lectures and not producing anything. I am blown away by this man. My mom asked if since he is a new dr does he not know he does not have to do that. I explained to Dr M that I was not going to turn in my hours and he said I was and we argued about it. I finally gave in and let him pay me for taking classes I needed for my own license. How great is he? He is the greatest!!!
I am so lucky. I have a great husband, a great job, a cute house, a great pineapple upside down cake that I made from scratch sitting on my desk ready to be eaten and a great life. I am truly grateful this spring for the changes and experiences in my life that have brought me to this point. I am looking forward to summer! What fun will I experience then????

Oregon Dental Association
Thrusday, Friday and Saturday was the ODA conference. I went all days. I did have to work for one hour for that one patient who would throw a fit if rescheduled on Thursday. I went to the conference and was amazed at how different it is compared to UDA. The vendor exhibit hall was full with Colgate, Burkhardt, PDT, Butler, Crest and Oral-B etc. but it also had booths from local winery and brewery. They offered free tastings of their products. In the registration guide you got several coupons for the free beverage. Then there were tables of decadent desserts, cheeses, veggies, and fruits. It was all posh and nice. There were some people in jeans but for the most part dentists were in suits....like church, RDH were in skirts, pant suits etc. So I felt frumpy in my too large dress pants with the waistband rolled to make them fit and a sweater. It was a totally different feeling there. Much more professional.
The speakers were amazing. These speakers are of a higher quality than I am used to. You have to pre-register and then you have to show your badge with proof of registrationto enter the course. So if you were a slacker and did not register you did not get into the more popular classes even if you were early. I took CPR, Medial Emergencies (OR requires 4 credits of med emergencies per 2 yrs),50 top most prescribed drugs, and Interdisciplinary dental treatment. It was awesome. I have been to several dental conference medication classes. This was the best. This speaker rocked! He was informative and talked about how the meds related to dental work....not how the drug acted in the body. I learned so much. Then the Interdisciplinary one was full of info new to me. I was so impressed. It was wonderful. That one was a 6 hour one and took all day Sat. My whole office-dentist included-went. It was great to hear about treatment planning starting with the patients needs....perio, functionality, biomechanical and aesthetics. It was great. I learned so much. He was such a high quality speaker. The speaker is a friend of Dr Martha Bibb. She is the dds who my dentist bought his practice from. She is by far the best clinician I have ever seen. She is weird but her restorations are flawless--even years later. Anyway she knows this speaker...Dr Kois. She said he speaks around the country for 20,000 a pop! I wanna earn $20,000 for 6 hours of lecturing! He was worth it too. The class was packed full 400-500 people. So I am sure our reg fee paid for it.
ODA knows how to throw a good convention! There was 7 massage chairs giving free massages compliments of ODA. Red Cross was also there taking blood donations. I was rejected. My Hematocrit ws 12.2 and the needed is 12.5 to donate. I felt so rejected. All in all it was a wonderful conference...and 20 ce credits later I will be better for the education I received there.
